Asbestos inventory

As of 1997, there came the obligation that asbestos inventories had to be carried out by an agency certified in this (according to the BRL 5052). Witteman Asbestos Research (trade name for Roulaux Asbestos Research BV) was one of the first research companies to be certified according to the BRL 5052. We carry out asbestos surveys throughout the Netherlands, specializing in smaller properties (homes, agricultural farm buildings, barns, schools, offices and workshops). The assigned work is usually carried out and delivered within a week. We also take care of the legally required registration in the LAVS (national asbestos tracking system).

We are located in Kockengen (on the A2 between Amsterdam and Utrecht). Naturally, we provide free quotations for carrying out inventories (on the basis of drawings to be submitted and other information that may show the possible use of asbestos). In addition to conducting asbestos inventories, we also carry out validation studies if required. For example, to determine whether a particular remediation operation can be performed in a lower risk class classification.

Ton Witteman, in addition to being a DIA (expert asbestos surveyor), is also a registered HVK (higher safety expert) and has a background of HTS- Bouwkunde education and a doctorate in Civil Engineering from Delft University of Technology.

BACKGROUND TON WITTEMAN

After high school I studied Architecture at the HTS (first at the day HTS and later at the Evening HTS in Amsterdam). After this I studied Civil Engineering in Delft. In 1986 I worked at a consulting firm in Rotterdam. After three years I transferred to Cemsto BV (part of the Hodon Group). My responsibilities there included product development (including quality assurance). Mid 1993 started as an independent consultant with regard to the implementation of quality management systems. In the 90’s advised more than 250 cleaning companies in drafting and implementing the ISO 9000 requirements. This was later joined by a range of other types of companies (hotels, restaurants, catering companies, health care institutions, all kinds of manufacturing companies, construction companies, etc.). When the Safety Checklist for Contractors was released in 1995, we also helped our clients by advising them on how to meet the VCA requirements. Then the ISO 14000 standard was issued in 1998 with regard to environmental management systems, and we also studied this further. Over the past 20 years, Witteman Bedrijfsadvies BV has successfully guided some 30 companies to ISO 14000 certification.

ISO 9000

The ISO 9000 quality standard was introduced in the Netherlands in 1988. Since then, this standard has been modified several times, most recently in 2015. The current quality standard demands a proactive attitude from the entrepreneur with regard to determining all stakeholders (so-called stakeholders) and to what extent they represent an opportunity or threat to the company in question. Together with you, Witteman Bedrijfsadvies BV will draw up an analysis of all standard requirements on the basis of which the quality management system will be further developed. Prior to the certification body’s audits, we can draw up the internal audits with you and carry out a management review in which the quality management system is evaluated.

VCA

Many clients, especially in the construction industry, require their subcontractors and suppliers to meet the safety requirements according to the VCA * or ** safety checklist (depending on the size of the company). Witteman Bedrijfsadvies BV determines which requirements you need to meet and how this can be implemented in your organization. Prior to the audit by the certifying body, a final check is carried out to avoid surprises.

ISO 14000

The fact that companies demonstrably pay attention to preventing unnecessary environmental pollution hardly needs additional attention. In order to make this demonstrable to third parties as well, a choice can be made to implement the environmental management system according to ISO 14000. This describes which environmentally critical components apply to the company and how control is exercised with regard to preventing unnecessary environmental pollution. From the drafting of the environmental policy, the environmental objectives as well as the implementation of procedures and the monitoring of the effectiveness of the measures are developed and documented by us with you.
